CAFÉ CARE

WHO CARES? We do. On the first Wednesday* of each month, from September through June, volunteers at Emmanuel Church extend an invitation to the residents of the nearby women's shelter at Coeur des Grottes to join us for lunch. We gather with our guests, between 20-30 women and children, in the petite salle and serve up a hot meal. They enjoy getting out of an institutional setting for a home cooked meal, and we enjoy chatting with them and spending time together while we eat. The team shares the cooking duties and the cost of food is reimbursed to team members.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with cooking (usually done at home and brought to Emmanuel Church,) set up, and clean up of what we call "Café Care." Lunch time is 11:30-14:00, and we are always finished on time. You don't need to commit every month. We welcome occasional as well as regular help. If you would like to join us in this fun ministry, please contact our group leader here
*Occasionally on the second Wednesday due to holidays or conflicts

JARDIN DE MONTBRILLANT

Jardin de Montbrillant is a monthly Outreach project here in Geneva where we reach out directly to those in need, and supply a cooked meal to 200 + people on every second Saturday of the month, year around. The Center, named Jardin de Montbrillant, is run by a local charitable organization located behind the central train station. They offer a free mid-day meal to anyone in need, weekly from Tuesday through Saturday. Our group leader can be contacted for questions by clicking here.

Our participation allows us once each month to plan a special meal with a team of approximately 8 people, members and friends of the church, who are willing to spend a few hours serving the less fortunate and offering a welcoming meal and smile. Team leaders organise the shopping for ingredients, and a willing group assists in meal preparation and service. Volunteers typically start at 10:30am, and finish by 2:30pm. Please check the sign up sheet in the Parish Hall to sign up, no experience necessary!
