The Times They are a Changin'

August 26, 2017

Come gather 'round people wherever you roam...because we are celebrating a new phase at Emmanuel Church with the Institution of New Ministry of Rev. Canon Michael Rusk Saturday, September 2nd, at 12:00pm! It's guaranteed to be a hearty welcome, because after searching, and going through the natural and necessary pains of growing, God has delivered us a warm and wonderful Rector.

Please be a part of our welcome to Canon Michael and be a witness to his new beginning with the Emmanuel family. The service of Institution involves giving symbolic gifts during the induction ceremony in which the Bishop, representatives of the congregation, and representatives of the diocesan clergy give the presentations. The gifts typically include a Bible, a vessel of water, a stole or symbol of the new minister's order, a book of prayers, olive oil, the keys of the church, the Constitution and Canons of the Church, and bread and wine. Come to the service to hear more about why we give these gifts!

The Bishop will call upon Canon Michael to dedicate his body, soul, and spirit to discern and execute the Lord's will to the best of his ability and to share his love and gifts with us, educating us and caring for us as God's flock. No small task!

We pray that you will be able to celebrate, welcome, and savour this joyous and important moment in the life of Emmanuel with the congregation. An open reception will follow the service, and we hope to see you there!
